Digital cameras have become so popular that many well known camera companies are focusing on new digital models while only making a few film cameras. Kodak, for one, has a wide range of digital models, but doesn't produce much more than one time, disposable film cameras. Polaroid has also stopped manufacturing many of its film models.
Most companies make a full line of point and shoot digital cameras and some of them also produce several single lens reflex (SLR) cameras, which are aimed at the more serious photographer. Most companies also make various camera accessories along with underwater housing units for the cameras, so you can take them with you while snorkeling or scuba diving. The manufacturers are coming out with new models on a regular basis to compete for the consumer's dollar. New point and shoot digital cameras seem to be getting slimmer and smaller each year, while SLR cameras are getting lighter.
