Video Editing & Capture Cards
Video editing and capture cards plug into your computer allowing you to download and edit your film images. Video editing cards usually have dedicated hardware for handling the rendering of video streams, whereas capture cards don't. Some editing cards allow for real time editing. The cards give you a socket for your camcorder. Some of them have plugs for analog (S-Video/composite) and digital (DV) camcorders. Make sure an analog capture card has both input and output sockets.
Digital versions can send and receive video clips whereas analog ones usually just send or receive. Video capture cards usually come with some video editing software. These cards are available in various memory sizes and speeds. They can range in price from about $50 to over $1,000.
