Film Washing Equipment
You don't need any special equipment when washing your film, although film washers are available. Sheet film can be washed in the same style of tanks or trays that you use for washing your roll films in. When you are using a tray you should wash only one film at a time. If you wash more than one, the films may rub together and get scratched. The best method of washing in a tray is when a siphon is attached to the edge of the tray. This siphons the water from the bottom of the tray as fresh water enters the top. The best way to wash sheet film is in a sheet film washing tank. The negatives are held in the tank by film hangers. Fresh water enters the bottom of the tank and leaves from the sides at or near the top of the tank. When using film hangers make sure the negatives are separated so fresh water can reach all areas the negatives. Make sure your water is the right temperature and you wash your film for the right amount of time. Film washers can cost up to several hundred dollars.
