Poles & Light Stands
Many photographers need to have their lights situated high up in their studios and they often mount their lights on hanging poles from the ceiling. You can mount various types of lights on standing poles or light stands. Most hanging lamps come with the mount attached to them. Make sure your poles and stands are strong and durable and can handle the weight of the lights you will be mounting on them. They should also be adjustable and portable. Some of them have wheels.
Autopoles are also available and they support lights and reflectors. These poles are clamped between the studio floor and ceiling and are solid and can quickly be moved to new positions. Make sure your stands are built for the types of lights you are using or that you have the proper adaptors.
There are many types of light stands available and they come in various materials and sizes. They range in price from about $30 to $1,000.
