You're only a baby once during your lifetime, well at least physically, so it's always nice to have some quality baby photos to look back on when you get older. Baby photography has generally been linked with portrait photography over the years. Most people dress their little boy or girl up and try to get them to sit still long enough for a photo or two. These are great photos to record the child's progression throughout the years, but you can also take good photos of your baby acting naturally.
Many people are now doing this by recording their baby's every movement including their birth; with video recorders or by using digital cameras. Take photos of your child eating, sleeping, crying and being everything that babies are. This is a rich photographic ground for your family. Most babies react well to the camera. It's like they have some type of sixth sense and know what one is a week after they are born. However, they are most likely to be happy, alert and reactive to cameras when they are comfortable, well-fed, dry and have just had a nap. Don't be afraid to be creative with baby photos and use whatever they get their hands on as props.
